Conservators In Private Practice (CIPP) is a professional association of art conservators. CIPP members have businesses across the United States providing high-quality care for art and historic artifacts. Our members serve a wide range of clients including private collectors, corporations, museums, universities, and governmental agencies.
 

Conservation practices take many forms. Many of our members work alone in individual practices, others work for larger companies with many employees. Many of our members' small businesses are woman-owned. All CIPP members provide treatment and consultative services to their clients according to the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice of our parent organization, the American Institute for Conservation, the only national organization of professional art and historic artifact conservators. Conservators are active members of their local business communities.

Our members are highly trained in many technical specialties to provide the finest care to many kinds of objects including paintings, works of art on paper, photographic materials, books, textiles, furniture and picture frames, and sculpture in many media. Conservation architects provide services to owners of historic buildings and scientists provide analytical services to help identify materials and their history.

 
Conservators in Private Practice provides a forum for members to exchange information, suggestions, and tips on the exigencies, challenges, and rewards of running private practice conservation businesses. CIPP is a specialty group of the American Institute for Conservation, and welcomes AIC members in any technical specialty. Annual dues are $20.
 

To improve and support the business practices of members, to disseminate business and professional information and to encourage business education, study and research by and for its members.

To provide a forum for the interests of conservators in private practice within AIC and to promote the interests of conservators in private practice to allied professional organizations and in the open marketplace.

To support the AIC Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice and to oppose any influence which would tend to lower such standards and ethics.

To support just and equitable business practice within the conservation profession.
